Media Studies and Journalism
The program Journalism and Media Studies combines practical journalism training with immersion in media theory. Students learn methods used in creating modern media (information verification basics, analysis of open sources, editing, investigative journalism, storytelling, etc.) and explore how these media have evolved historically, as well as how thinkers from various fields have conceptualized the notions of communication and information. This comprehensive approach helps students not only become content creators but also thoughtful and observant readers, developing critical thinking and learning to treat information with healthy skepticism. Some instructors on the course come from quality journalism backgrounds, serving as editors, and media managers, and are actively engaged in the industry. Others are academics, whose research focuses on the role of media in society and culture. This balance ensures that analytical and research-oriented skills complement students’ creative and practical work. Graduates of the program might pursue careers in various media, journalism and media project management. They may also decide to continue their academic education in media studies.

"The program is called 'Media Studies & Journalism,' not just 'journalism,' because it combines theoretical and practical aspects of working in media, research, and authorial approaches. Our team has extensive experience in creating educational programs in media literacy, journalism, and communications at MSSES (Shaninka), the Russian Presidential Academy, and independent continuing education platforms. Media is currently one of the most in-demand and rapidly evolving professional fields. It combines knowledge of technology, humanities, managerial and creative approaches, psychology, and soft skills. Students also acquire a substantial knowledge base rooted in classical journalism which serves as a foundation for all media-related specialties. Our instructors are journalists, media managers, data specialists, information verification experts, designers, and media researchers — have long been involved in the media industry and have previously taught programs that align closely with our educational approach."
